Marketing Project Manager

Tired of all those boring job postings?

Worse, are you tired of actually working at boring places? Are you tired of not being recognized and rewarded?

Well, your day is about to get a whole lot better… keep reading my friend…

This job posting, this company, is VERY different… and unlike all those other companies who bore you with corporate gobbledygook,  half truths and boilerplate BS… I’ll let you figure out for yourself, how and why you think we are different (and whether you think you’d even like it here).

Ok, so, with that out of the way, let’s dive in…

I don’t like to waste time, so I’m going to get straight to the point so as not to waste yours…

My name is Dennys Passeto, I am the Director of Online Marketing at and I am looking for a true all star Marketing Project Manager to be my right-hand dude or dudette in exploding our online presence beyond where it already is.

The role of Marketing Project Manager is to be the one who keeps the marketing projects here at HBI running smoothly, on-time and on budget.

This is a full-time role and reports directly to me. You will work cross-functionally with numerous others on our marketing team like our Creative Director, Writers, Editor, etc. As well as outside vendors such as advertising agencies, designers, videographers, outsourcing talent, etc.

You will “own” the projects once they are assigned to you and will be responsible for visualizing it, thinking through it, creating a timeline, tasks, subtasks, assigning all work needed to the right parties with due dates, holding their feet to the fire (including mine at times) for getting our parts completed on time so as to not hold up the entire project.

You will keep us organized and humming as the efficient marketing machine that we know we can be with someone at the helm.  You will manage all projects via Wrike.

Our company is headquartered in beautiful Austin, TX but we are primarily a “virtual team”... so your ability to work remotely and be highly productive is a must.  No Judge Judy or Dr. Oz in the afternoon while sitting on the couch, no babysitting your kids while trying to squeeze in work in between their activities.  You must be disciplined.  Nothing short of that will be tolerated or accepted.

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing numerous marketing projects / initiatives simultaneously; such as:

    • Managing creation of banners / Ads; testing creatives

    • Managing creation of mini-sites and landing pages

    • Managing the creation of Video Sales Letters (VSL’s)

    • Managing Product / content creation for lead magnet, opt-in

    • And more...

  • Working closely with external ad agencies that run our advertising campaigns
  • Create, update and maintain reporting for all initiatives old and new.

How your performance will be measured:

  • Projects / initiatives completed on time and on budget

  • Accurate and timely reporting on campaigns

  • How independent you are able to perform and how much of my time you are able to free up from project management.

  • Proactivity / Efficiency - are you always keeping the hopper full or resting on your laurels?

  • Do you maximize our throughput as a company?

To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria...

  • Direct Response Marketing experience (minimum 2 years)

  • Project management experience (minimum 2 years)

  • Software platforms / tools (e.g. Wrike, Excel, Google Docs etc)

  • Organized - manage multiple projects on time and on budget

  • Detail oriented - must have an eye for detail (I hate sloppiness)

  • Executioner - you get things done, quickly with little or no errors

  • Responsible - truly have an ownership attitude, don’t make excuses and don’t blame others.

  • Productive - great at managing your time, getting shit done (yes, I said shit)

  • Great communicator - strong written and verbal communication

  • High energy & drive – relentless, passionate, self-starter, super determined

  • Resourceful - finds ways over, around or through barriers

  • Team Player – approachable, good collaborator

  • Fun - good sense of humor as we LOVE to crack jokes and have fun

  • Certifications in any of the key skill areas for the role

  • Traffic management experience

  • Advanced Pay-per-click / Native ad network / experience

  • Advanced Social Media Marketing skills / experience

  • Audio / Video creative asset development experience

  • Natural health / pain relief passion / knowledge

  • Competitive research

  • Data analysis (e.g. google analytics, adbeat, SEMRush, etc.)

So, as you can see, I am very clear about what the role is, what success looks like, how it will be measured and the skills, experience and personality traits needed. If you feel you are a strong fit, I would love to hear from you.

The Healthy Back Institute is a publishing and consumer products business focused on helping people to “live without pain, naturally.”

Founded in 2003, it has quickly become one of the web's leading resources for people looking for information and products to help them find relief.

Coming in at #595 in the 2010 Inc. 500/5000, the company is a strong, stable and fast growing business. Privately held, without any outside investors to please, we do what we believe is best for the company, our team and our customers.

We are a team of true "all-stars" who work and play hard. One of our core values is "Family" and our culture certainly represents that, with most team members having worked here an average of 5 years.

Oh, and don’t let the domain and company name fool you… we don’t just help people with back pain, we help people with just about any type of pain to “live pain free naturally”... and are in the process of a major rebranding.
