About Us

Here at the Healthy Back Institute we are on a mission to transform the way people think about and treat pain. Since 2003, we have helped millions of people all over the world to claim their freedom from pain and start loving life again.

Everything that happens at the Healthy Back Institute is rooted in our core values:

Freedom, Love, Team, Growth, Excellence, and Courage

These values are the foundation of how we serve our customers and how we treat each other. We are seeking a Business Process Reengineering Specialist (Contract) to join our team!

The Opportunity:

As our Business Process Reengineering Specialist, you will lead project-based process improvement initiatives across departments, starting with a sub-project of our tech implementation plan focused on mapping and optimizing HBI’s direct response customer acquisition workflows—from lead capture through order placement—in preparation for system migration from our proprietary platform (HBI Core) into Buyist.

This work supports a multi-phase technology implementation across Buyist and Zoho, as we retire HBI Core and transition to scalable systems.

This is a Short-Term, Project-Based 1099 Contractor role reporting to the People & Enablement Team.

The Team:

The People & Enablement team is looking for a thoughtful and execution-focused Business Process Reengineering Specialist to help us document and improve the way work gets done across the organization—starting with customer acquisition workflows. Our team is responsible for helping HBI scale efficiently through systems, training, and enablement.

Who You Are

  • Strong Facilitator. You can engage stakeholders in working sessions, ask insightful questions, and surface root causes, exceptions, and decision points with clarity.
  • Business-Minded Thinker. You know how to identify redundancies, standardize processes, and spot high-leverage improvements—even in unfamiliar domains.
  • Clear Communicator. You translate complexity into clean, usable SOPs that support adoption and empower non-technical teams.
  • Who You Are Not: A technical system integrator or IT process architect—we’re not looking for platform implementation support, but someone with strong operational and business process skills.

What You Have:

  • 3–5 years of experience in Business Process Improvement, Operations, or Consulting
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional workflow mapping and process optimization
  • Skilled in developing clear, structured SOPs and documentation
  • Strong understanding of handoffs, dependencies, exceptions, and decision points
  • Ability to interview stakeholders, identify root causes, and synthesize into scalable processes
  • Comfortable executing independently in a fast-paced, short-term project environment
  • Familiarity with tools like Lucidchart, Google Workspace, and project trackers
  • Experience identifying automation-ready workflow steps and structuring inputs (like dropdowns, logic flows, or templates) that enable automation or AI
  • A plus: Familiarity with Zoho CRM, Desk, or Voice
  • A plus: Experience integrating AI into business workflows
  • A plus: Background in Customer Success or DTC/eCommerce organizations

What You’ll Get To Do:

  • Map and Refine Core Workflows with Process Owners
    • Lead discovery sessions with acquisition and other departments
    • Document current vs. future state workflows, clarify handoffs, and spot inefficiencies
    • Align workflows with Buyist modules and internal operational goals
  • Create Clear, Role-Based SOPs that Drive Adoption
    • Develop practical, user-facing SOPs with logic flows and embedded system actions
    • Ensure SOPs are adoption-ready and aligned with internal training needs
    • Partner with Enablement to translate SOPs into effective training tools
  • Design for AI Enablement and Workflow Automation
    • Identify steps suitable for automation or AI support
    • Recommend structured inputs (templates, dropdowns) to make automation scalable
    • Highlight high-impact tasks where AI can reduce effort or improve outcomes

Opportunities and Challenges You’ll Be Excited to Help Us With:

  • Helping teams transition from scattered tribal knowledge to standardized, scalable workflows
  • Laying the operational foundation for our Buyist system migration
  • Building clarity and efficiency in how cross-functional teams collaborate
  • Improving how we serve our customers—starting with acquisition workflows and eventually across HBI

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • The People. You will be surrounded by some of the most talented, supportive, smart, and kind people, leaders and teams – people you can be proud to work with.
  • The Mission. At HBI, we are relentlessly focused on helping people live pain free lives.  It feels good to serve others – and HBI is the leader in helping people live their life pain free.
  • The Values. The opportunity to make a difference with teammates who believe in our core values of Freedom, Love, Team, Growth, Excellence, and Courage

The Benefits:

  • A healthy work/life balance and flexible schedule
  • Remote / virtual work from home position
  • An amazing team-centered culture felt at all levels of the company!
The Pay: $48 - 58/hr DOE
